I have always had an interest in photography, all the way back to the 1970’s with my little Kodak Instamatic. It really blossomed when my friend Steve Hertzmann took me to my very first Long Beach Grand Prix. We were two teenage boys hanging off a fire escape taking pictures of Mario Andretti and Niki Lauda race for the Formula One crown. We took the film home and developed it in an old playhouse in the back yard that he had converted into a dark room. I was hooked!!
I bought the new Canon EOS as soon as it came out and I have taken hundreds of rolls of film since. The dawn of the digital age was god-send, no more wasted film looking for the “magic shot”! I could shoot all day and delete the bad stuff and keep going. I shoot with a Canon 20D and used a Canon 70-200mm EF f/2.8L IS USM for most of the Alaska images.
Lastly, I want to thank Steve for helping me catch the bug so many years ago.
